Writing Skills: Unfortunately Necessary for Post-Graduation & Professional Career

youreIf you’ve already graduated and thought that you were done being graded, our blog post this week may be a little disappointing. We hate being the bearers of bad news, but it’s important for you to know that every piece of communication you put out there is being analyzed by someone: customer, prospect, colleague, or competitor. The trouble is, now you don’t know what grade you’re getting.

Your Website, Facebook page, blog posts, emails, billboards, etc. all say something about you. Silly spelling, grammar, and word-use errors could be undermining your professionalism. True or not, peoples’ perceptions are their reality. If customers or prospects perceive your communications are lacking, they may think your company is too. Friedrich Nietzsche said it best.

“All things are subject to interpretation. Whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.”

Spelling and grammar not your strong suite? Been a while since you took your last writing class? There are tons of resources online to help you increase your skills. See a few of our suggestions below. Fair warning, the Free Rice game can be a little addicting.
